Evans Knob Farm has been in the Evans family for 5
generations. Starting out as a homestead. It has gone through
many transitions over the years. Most recently it became USDA
Certified Organic in the summer of 2003.

We are striving to go beyond what the National Organic Plan
requires of us. We see the land as an investment and a precious
gift. Reid and I are making concentrated efforts to nurture the
land, building the soil and getting the ecosystem within working
as one terrific unit.  Every year we see evidence that we are
working in the right direction.  We see more earthworm activity,
less insect pressure and higher yields.  We encourage beneficial
insects, birds, snakes ( yes, we encourage black snakes and
garden snakes, Yikes!) and toads.

We want you to be able to put a face with the meal on your
table. We want to be your farmer, not some unknown
conglomerate operation that trucks your food thousands of miles
How our farm was before we
started making some serious
changes to it.
Currently
This is only some of the progress
that we have made on our farm
over the years.

My husband, Reid and I began actively farming this land in 1990.
We became increasingly aware of the connection of chemicals, the
land, the wildlife and our family. We began the transition from the
"normal" farming practices into Organics. We noticed a
remarkable thing, everyone was healthier. The wildlife, the soil and
our family.
