Working with Nature
In the spring we move the chickens
out into the sheep and cattle
pastures.  They forage for insects
and grasses.  They get to be real
chickens.
One of the advantages of having
the chickens out with the animals
is that they scratch out dung piles
in search of insects and eggs.
Cleaner pastures, happy chickens.

help combat the Mexican Bean
beetle on the Royal Burgundy
Beans.  We haven't used
pesticides in years!
We try not to disrupt mother
nature.  We are so dedicated to
working with nature that we
allowed this mamma killdeer to
hatch a brood of 4 chicks in the
middle of a corn patch.
